The E-1 visa is issued to foreign nationals employed as professors, lecturers, or researchers at accredited Korean universities and colleges. It is one of the most prestigious work visas in Korea and is required for any foreigner taking up a full-time or part-time academic position at a higher education institution.
Foreign academics — professors, associate professors, assistant professors, and lecturers — who have received a job offer from a Korean university or college accredited by the Ministry of Education. Exchange professors from partner universities may also qualify.

Prepare and apostille documents
Have your highest degree certificate and criminal background check apostilled in your home country.
Apply at the Korean consulate
Submit your visa application at the Korean embassy or consulate in your country of residence along with all required documents.
Arrive and register
After arrival, register as a foreign resident at your local immigration office within 90 days and receive your Alien Registration Card (ARC).
