Can I still apply for C-4-4?
No. Korea's visa-issuance manual states that the C-4-1 to C-4-4 seasonal-work visas stopped being issued from 2025. Seasonal farm and fishery work now goes through the E-8 (Seasonal Employment) visa, which allows up to 8 months (total stay cannot exceed 8 months). As before, the worker does not apply alone: the head of the city/county/district (시·군·구) applies for the Certificate of Visa Eligibility through the Visa Portal.
Why is C-4-4 still described in the manual?
The manual still prints the old C-4-1~4 Certificate of Visa Eligibility procedure and its visa-type table, which is why the code is still referenced. The E-8 chapter of the same manual carries the notice that C-4-1~4 issuance stopped from 2025, and its former 90-day line for C-4-1~4 is struck through.
Who applied for C-4-4 when it was issued?
Not the worker. The head of the city/county/district (시·군·구) applied for the Certificate of Visa Eligibility through the Visa Portal for workers the municipality had allocated to an employer.
How long could workers stay on C-4-4?
Up to 90 days, on a single-entry visa, and the contract's workdays had to match that period. E-8, which now covers seasonal work, allows up to 8 months.
What was the difference between C-4-4 and the other C-4 seasonal visas?
Only the recommender and the sector. C-4-1 and C-4-3 were recommended by an MOU-partner foreign local government (agriculture and fishery respectively); C-4-2 and C-4-4 were recommended by a marriage migrant in Korea (agriculture and fishery respectively). None of the four has been issued since 2025.
My relative is a marriage migrant and I am already in Korea — is this the right route?
No. Under the C-4-1~4 procedure, family of a marriage migrant or an overseas Korean who were already residing in Korea were not Certificate of Visa Eligibility applicants; they applied for activity-outside-status permission (체류자격외활동허가) instead. The E-8 chapter keeps the same rule: family of marriage migrants already staying in Korea apply for activity-outside-status permission rather than a Certificate of Visa Eligibility.
Is C-4-5 also a seasonal work visa?
No. C-4-1 through C-4-4 were the seasonal work codes (not issued since 2025), and C-4-5 covers non-seasonal short-term employment — lectures, performances, advertising and fashion work, research and technical guidance, and high-tech assignments.
